24 Elects First Female President

Broadway Star Cherry Jones is set to play 24's first female Commander in Chief

Six months before its highly anticipated midseason return, 24 has already elected Tony Award-winning actress Cherry Jones ("The Heiress," "Doubt") to serve as "President Allison Taylor" for Season Seven. The Emmy Award-winning series will reset the clock for "Day 7" in January, Mondays at 9pm FOX.

Jones, mostly known for her stage work, has recently appeared in feature films such as Ocean's Twelve, The Perfect Storm and Cradle Will Rock. Her television credits include Clubhouse and The West Wing. Jones's character survives recent upheaval at 24 that saw the scrapping of a storyline set in Africa. The casting of Jones confirms that the idea of a female president remains, but little else is known of what 24's Season Seven will look like.

With the whole Hillary "Ball Breaker" Clinton election campaign, this could actually be good.

I want at least one scene where the Presidential advisor looks up and goes, "You sure you want to press the red button? You sure it's not PMS?"

Garofalo Turns Serious for '24'

Liberal actress Janeane Garofalo will be playing an FBI systems analyst in the upcoming season of hit drama 24. The star will play a government agent assigned to investigate a crisis centering around Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and his team on day seven of the seventh season, which starts on TV network Fox early next year.

I've read that (thankfully) there there will be no coverage from the inside of CTU in the new season. It's all Field work this time. With the dour S6 (though I liked the contemplative ending with -- non-spoiler -- Jack standing against the open sea, pondering his fucked up life), "24" really needs to do something different.

Too bad Chloe's still coming back. I'm super-tired of that annoying bitch.

They brought him back from the dead; man, this season, looks like these guys are more desperate than I thought they'd be.

They're definitely going for the "Die Hard" feel.

Season 7 starts Jan 13, 2008.

It remains to be seen how plausible Tony's "return-from-the-dead, I-hate-you-all" story will be. He is worth bringing back as the antagonist, but it has to be believable to some extent.

Dude, that was Tony. Where did you get the evil twin/revenge thing from?

I'm not being apologetic here. Granted, I'd be the first to say that S6 was mostly recycled crap. I just think you should give it a chance. I mean, with all due respect, I don't think anyone can decide if a story is shit without actually seeing at least some part of it playing out. The trailer hardly gave anything away.

Im saying that they want us to think that it is Tony but he will turn out to be his evil twin brother. I will give it a try for a couple of episodes, but dont think I will stick around for the whole ride.
