Die Hard: With a Vengeance (McTiernan, 1995)IMDB LinkUnlike Die Hard 2, this installment does not try to be a Die Hard clone. Instead, it moves in a whole different direction. This time the story is on a much bigger scale, it just doesn’t involve a building or an airport, but instead it is about the whole city.
The plot is a bit preposterous, but at least it is fun. The villain is again enjoyable to watch (Jeremy Iron as Simon Gruber, the brother of the villain from the first Die Hard). John McClane has a side kick this time, which is Samuel L. Jackson, meaning this time the movie is more like a buddy-cop movie, rather than have Bruce Willis go at it alone. This changes the tone of the movie from dark and gritty to more comical, which is good, because otherwise we’d have another Die Hard 2 on our hands.
With some crazy action sequences, “Die Hard With a Vengeance” is another classic in the franchise.
