Die Hard 2 (Harlin, 1990)IMDB LinkWhat a bad follow-up. With a new director and new scriptwriter, all we have is a Die Hard that is a bad clone of the first one. The director seems to have re-watched the first one again, and made notes on which parts to copy, without looking at the big picture.
So, we have McClane’s wife being a hostage again. It is Christmas again. John is again at the wrong place at the wrong time. And there are lots of scenes that just seem to be lifted right out of the first Die Hard (like, John talking himself after doing something strange, like jumping on a wing of a plane).
What they do change is everything that would have made it good. The premise is really stupid (I don’t even want to start explaining it), it has lame action-thriller twists, and the only good action part is a memorable last scene (if you had seen this when you were 12, that is one scene you’d still remember).
The only reason to watch this, is because it still has John McClane, who is still lots of fun to watch.
